Viewing and Refining Research Papers
After Synthesis's AI agents have completed their work, your research paper will be ready for review and refinement. Synthesis provides a dedicated viewer with a built-in rich text editor, allowing you to personalize, edit, and export your generated paper.
Accessing Your Research Paper

Navigate to a Project: From the Dashboard, click on any project card to open its Project Details View.

Select the Paper Tab: Within the Project Details View, look for the tabs (e.g., Overview, Chat, Pipeline). Click on the "Paper" tab to open the paper viewer.
Here, you will see the AI-generated research paper displayed in a clean, readable format.
Understanding the Paper Viewer
The Paper Viewer presents your research paper, compiling all generated sections (Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References) into a cohesive document.
Key elements you'll find:
- Paper Title: Clearly displayed at the top.
- Content Display: The full text of your research paper.
- Download PDF Button: A quick way to export your current paper as a PDF.
- Edit/Preview Button: Toggles between viewing the paper and entering the rich text editing mode.
Refining Your Paper with the Rich Text Editor
Synthesis integrates a powerful rich text editor, enabling you to make precise adjustments and add your personal touch to the AI-generated content.

Activate Editing Mode:
- In the Paper Viewer, locate the "Start Editing" button, often highlighted with a visual prompt.
- Alternatively, click the "Edit" button (looks like a pencil icon) in the header of the paper viewer.
- The viewer will transform into a rich text editor interface.

Using the Rich Text Editor: The editor provides a familiar set of tools to format your paper:
- Text Formatting: Apply bold, italic, underline, strikethrough.
- Headings: Structure your document with various heading levels.
- Lists: Create ordered and unordered lists.
- Alignment: Adjust text alignment (left, center, right, justify).
- Colors: Change text and background colors.
- Links: Insert hyperlinks.
- Math Equations: Utilize a built-in Math Renderer for displaying LaTeX-style mathematical expressions. For example, you can write
$\alpha + \beta = \gamma$to render inline math. - Clear Formatting: Remove all formatting from selected text.
- Undo/Redo: Revert or reapply changes.

Saving Your Changes:
- Once you've made your edits, click the "Save" button within the editor toolbar.
- A confirmation message will appear, and the paper will update.
- After saving, the editor will automatically switch back to Preview mode, allowing you to see your refined paper.
Note: Your changes are saved directly to the project's paper data, ensuring they persist for future viewing and export.
Exporting Your Research Paper
Beyond PDF, Synthesis offers various export formats to suit your needs.

Download as PDF (Quick Access):
- Click the "Download PDF" button directly in the Paper Viewer's header. This will generate and download the paper as a PDF file.

Exporting to Other Formats:
- In the header of the Project Details View (above the tabs), look for the "Download" button, often accompanied by a
ChevronDownicon indicating a dropdown menu. - Click this button to open the export options.
- Select your desired format:
- PDF: A high-quality, print-ready document.
- LaTeX: For academic publishing and advanced typesetting.
- DOCX: Compatible with Microsoft Word and other word processors.
- Markdown: A plain-text formatting syntax for simple documents and web content.
- Your browser will download the file in the selected format.
Tip: Ensure your paper has been generated by the
